DEREK B ...REST IN PEACE

WOW! So many DJ's and legends have passed this year it's just crazy. Derek B passed away on Sunday night apparently due to a heart attack at the age of 44. He was a UK hip hop legend who brought underground hip hop to the pop charts. i remember jammin to " Good Groove" and " Bad Young Brother" back in the golden days at Busby's in Tottenham Court Road like it was yesterday, and remember listening to the "Derek B Good Groove Show" on LWR on Sunday straight after Tim Westwood. Some old skool peeps will still think of him as a sellout but the man did so much to bring UK hip hop out into the open so you have to give respect where its due. Feelin' kinda gutted right now! Derek Boland R.I.P. 1966-2009.

yes really sad to hear the news of derek b's passing, peace to all his family and friends. no matter what anyone says Derek B was a pioneer of the early uk hip hop scene, ur right some old skool heads considered him a sell out - how times have changed now (tinchy stryder et al). he helped bring thru some of the legendary uk hip hop artists he signed to music of life.
he was a good producer/remixer also, used to bump his mix of rob base it takes two all the time.
the man went before his time - thanks for all the music and the happy memories of my youth, rest in peace brother.
